The automotive industry, however, demands not only for classical manufacturing sequences, such as spot-welding and bonding which are used for years. It demands more, especially because there is a continuous development in the automotive engineering. New materials are used, different materials should be combined and the automation level continuously increases. This creates challenges in the area of new joining technologies and manufacturing processes. In the course of this further development, we rely more and more on integrating laser, clinch, bond and rivet applications into robot-supported fully automated production lines.
